Aion – My First Impressions

Ok so, after i quit World of Warcraft, you can imagine that it was preety borring with nothing good to play. I tried a couple of free mmos but i ended up downloading for 1 hour installing for 20 min then uninstalling in 5 minutes (in some cases in under 1 minute).

So after that i decided to give Aion a try, since everyone is talking about it. I didn’t consider it to be a game i would pay for, but i can’t really tell you why. I always said that it will never riase to my expectations. Turns out i was wrong.

So i went to the local game stores to get a copy (cuz i like having the boxes) and to my surprise they were all sold out. That got me thinking … hmm .. perhaps this game IS good. And i placed a preorder for 2 copies, 1 for me 1 for my wife.

After a couple of days i got a phone call that my games have arrived and we went straight away to get em! Yaaaay!

We rush home and install the game, me on the pc, the missus on her Alienware laptop and start the updates. All good and dandy updates download fast and i start the game.

Very nice movie at the begining and then … surprise surprise… i got a game version in Korean. I look it up on their trouble shooting board and find that there are others who had that same problem. The DVD said EU Version but the client was in Korean. In the meanwhile my wife’s copy finished the update and everything is ok with her copy .. english and everything.

I install the client from her CDs and rush in.

Well guys that’s about all the bad stuff i can say about Aion, cuz from the moment i finished installing the EN version and started the game, my jaw dropped. And i didn’t get it in place untill this morning when i went to bed.

First of all …. the game looks AMAZING! I don’t have enought words to say how my visual senses were tignling.

They have been nice enough to make ingame video tutorials for beginers.

I love that the char is controlled via keyboard (WASD+Space) and that you can customize that anyway you want. The Camera is ver nicely positioned, with very nice following options.

Well i can tell you this, they have 2 Races (but you prolly allready know all this) The Preety ones(Elyos) and the Ugly Ones (Asmodians). Ofcourse i chose the dark side of the game and went for the Asmodians and created a Warrior Male.

The game then takes you to the char customisation area that is simply amasing. It offers a very very large variety of customisations like, hair styles, face tattoos, scars, piercings, etc etc etc, so basicaly there will be a great face variety in the game.

After a couple of introductory quests i got to bash some heads. First mobs are a race of rabbit like people. I can tell you that the kinetics of the fight are AWESOME! Skills look and feel great and the looting system is very easy. Once you kill the mob you loot the corpse, so that kinda pushes out the posibility of item theft or anything.

Well i only got to lvl 5 last night so that’s about all i can say for now but i promisse a folow-up soon with more impressions. From what i read you get wings at lvl 10 and i can’t wait to see how that works.
